Some protocol officials in the Niger State House of Assembly were on Tuesday beaten up by thugs who were in the House of Assembly for the inauguration of the new members of the Assembly.
It was gathered that the protocol officials were in the Assembly as early as 6 am to arrange the seats for dignitaries and visitors.
However, when the thugs arrived, they took over the seats allocated for the media, families, and wives of the new legislators and guests.
Attempts by the protocol members to preserve the seats for the people it was reserved for earned them beatings by the thugs tearing their clothes and wounding them.
One of the Protocol staff identified as Victor sustained injuries to the eyes, his clothes were torn and there were wounds all over his hands and face.
Our correspondent who was at the venue observed that there was no crowd control as the Security and protocol officials were overwhelmed by the crowd at hand.
