The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, has urged state governments to support the developmental programmes championed by First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.
Obasa made the call in a statement issued in Lagos after a courtesy visit to the First Lady at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.
Speaking with State House correspondents, Obasa described Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative as transformative for vulnerable women, youths and disadvantaged groups nationwide.
He said the initiative delivers support through education, health services, agriculture and economic empowerment programmes.
The state governments must seize the momentum created by the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative to drive lasting and sustainable development for our people.
These programmes are already delivering tangible benefits in education, health and economic empowerment across the country.
“With stronger collaboration from subnational governments, these interventions could achieve even greater reach and impact,” Obasa said.
He commended Tinubu’s vision and dedication, describing her interventions as timely and transformative for disadvantaged Nigerians.
Obasa said the initiative’s grassroots focus aligns with Nigeria’s national agenda of inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
He explained that the visit also offered an opportunity to extend goodwill during the overlapping observances of Ramadan and Lent.
Obasa emphasised the importance of unity, shared values and mutual respect during the season of reflection and sacrifice.
In her remarks, Mrs Tinubu said the programmes were designed to complement Federal Government efforts to improve Nigerians’ well-being.
According to her, the initiative provides practical solutions to everyday challenges faced by women and youths.
The programmes include vocational training, financial support schemes, health interventions and expanded educational opportunities.
