The chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Curruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has condoled with the people of Gidan Magana in Shagari local government area of Sokoto state on the death of 29 young people as a result of boat mishap Tuesday evening.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Hassan Sahabi on Wednesday, Senator Wamakko expressed shock over the incident and prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus, as well as give their families the formidable fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses.
The boat mishap claimed the lives of 29 persons, while the search of others was ongoing.
Although the total number of passengers in the boat was not known, 29 corpses, including six males and 23 females had so far been recovered.
All the deceased persons have been buried, while local drivers were still searching for other possible survivors and other dead persons.
