A recording studio has been donated to the campus radio of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna by Founders of BuyPower Nigeria Limited, Benjamin Ojima Ufaruna and Leonard Oladipo Ashehinde.
According to the duo, the recording studio was donated to limit the number of students who drop out to pursue their dreams in music.
Representing the company, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and co-Founder of BuyPower.ng, Leonard Oladipo Ashehinde while making the donation on Monday alongside top Nigeria Comedian, Seyi Law and Producer and Founder of Alternate Sounds, Gospel Obi, said that the donation is to fulfill their passion of giving back to their Alma Mater that shaped them into what they are now.
“The recording studio would be a valuable addition to the university. It is being set up with the aim to help the students achieve their dream in music. We discover that several students drop from the University just because they want to chase their dream in music or comedy and due to lack of equipment in the institutions to help them in actualizing their music, acting or comedy career.
“We want the students to stay back in school, earn their degree and harness their talent. It gives them an ample opportunity. It will encourage other students to train and check out their talent,” he said.
Nigeria top Comedian, Seyi Law said that BuyPower has been helping Nigerians in bringing light to their homes and now it is lightning up the creative minds of the students of FUT, adding that the recording studio would bring out the hidden talents in the institution.
He urged the students to make judicious use of the studio and ensure that they adopt maintenance culture so that the studio can last long for future students to use.
Seyi also urged the students to ensure that they develop themselves and become the best in whatever they do.
Producer and Founder, Alternate Sounds, Gospel Obi also known as Gospel on the Beatz, said that the recording studio would help students who have interest in music to learn something new and develop their skills.
“The recording studio presents a great opportunity to the students, take advantage of it and don’t misuse this opportunity.”
The Chairman of the Campus Media Board, Professor Akin Osunde who was represented by Professor Oyero, appreciated the Alumni for donating the recording studio to the institution, saying that it would encourage the students to pursue career in music, comedy, spoken words and acting.
He stated that the recording studio would be open to the students and talented persons in the host community of the institution.
