The Commissioner of Police in charge of election security in Kaduna State, Babaji Sunday, has announced the deployment of more than 16,000 personnel to ensure security across the state.

Babaji, who is also the Commandant Police College, Maiduguri, Borno, stated this while addressing personnel of the Command on Thursday in Kaduna.

He said the Police and other security operatives in the state are fully prepared for the election.

“The officers and men have been trained on the role expected of them before, during and after the election. All the electoral guidelines have been issued to all,” he said.

The CP warned that security agents will deal decisively with hooligans and other criminals who want to thwart the election.

“They must stay clear and allow the good people of Kaduna state to do the election peacefully.”

He urged the electorate to conduct themselves in good and orderly manner during the election and cooperate with electoral officers on election days.

Sunday identified electoral offences to include canvassing for votes, vote buying and wearing of party outfits or slogans at the polling stations.

He said the police and sister security agencies would arrest and prosecute any culprit under the Electoral Act.

Sunday assured that the election will hold across the state, including troubled areas.

“We have made adequate provision of equipments like the Armoured Personnel Carriers and Intelligence Personnel and other equipments to anticipate problems, to survey the areas for us.

“By God’s grace, the elections will hold in such places,” Babaji said.
