A former Managing Director of First Bank PLC, Dr Dauda Lawal Dare has declared to contest the governorship seat in Zamfara under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made the declaration at a rally organized in his honour in Gusau on Sunday.

At the rally that ended around 8pm, Dare said he is on a rescue mission to save Zamfara state from the prevailing challenges that had hindered its development.

He affirmed that he would give priority attention to security, quality education, healthcare, human capital development in order to stand the state out of its current predicament.

Dare who lamented on the deterioration of commercial activities in the state, saying that much needed to be done to revamp commercial activities as well as the agricultural sector to put the state back to its lost glory.

He appealed to the people of the state, to obtain their voter’s cards and for those who had registered, to keep it safely as it remained the only tool to vote for their candidates of choice.

Earlier, the state chairman of PDP, Bala Mande, who received the governorship aspirant in his office, expressed optimism that the party will wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

At the rally was the former Board Chairman of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Ikira Aliyu Bilbis, who is also contesting for Zamfara Central Senatorial seat, among other dignitaries.
