The maiden edition of the All Africa Medical and Wellness Expo (AMWE), is set to take place between August 30 and 31, in Abuja.

AMWE’s convener, Usman Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the essence of organising the Expo was to develop sustainable health tourism and wellness culture in Nigeria.

Isah, who is the Director, Turkish Healthcare Travel Council in Abuja, said that the 2023 edition of AMWE would revolutionise the healthcare and wellness landscape in Africa.

The EXPO has as theme: “Developing Sustainable Health Tourism and Wellness Culture.”

“The inaugural All Africa Medical and Wellness Expo (AMWE), is set to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, between Aug. and Aug. 31, 2023.

“AMWE 2023 will offer unparalleled opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and networking.

“Government agencies, policymakers, stakeholders, healthcare service providers, medical tourism facilitators, NGOs, and insurance companies are encouraged to attend.

“Also expected are the medical personnel, medical, wellness, fitness, and tourism associations, as well as medical equipment and pharmaceutical companies,” he said.

Isah said that the event would feature diverse programmes designed to foster knowledge sharing and drive the industry forward.

He said participants could look forward to exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions, as well as congress meetings.

“The event will include panel discussions and a medical tourism forum, to explore new opportunities in the sector.

“It will also feature B2B meetings to facilitate partnerships and collaborations, hospital visits, and an Award Gala Night to honour industry leaders.

“AMWE 2023 will present an ideal platform for stakeholders to showcase their expertise, forge new alliances, and contribute to the development of a sustainable health tourism and wellness culture in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the event is open to individuals and organisations looking to make meaningful impact in the healthcare and wellness sector.

Isah said medical students were also expected to participate at the EXPO as part of efforts aimed at nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, and cultivating a culture of excellence.

Guest speakers expected at the event include Dr Mohammad Afzal, Marlin Medical Assistance Pvt. India, Prof. J A Jayalal, Secretary General, Commonwealth Medical Association, UK, and Dr Ibrahim Wada, Chief Consultant Gynaecologist, NISA Medical Group, Abuja.
