The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salihu has paid condolence visit to the Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar and the families of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate clash between soldiers mounting road blocks on the Ilesha-Baruba/Chikanda expressway, and commercial drivers plying the route last month.
Engineer Salihu who was accompanied by his colleague and member representing Okuta/Yashikira Constituency at the House of Assembly; Honourable Muhammad Baba Salihu and the APC Caretaker Chairman in Baruten local government, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Setraco condoled with the Emir and prayed for continued peace and harmonious coexistence in the area.
“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident involving the military and our people, it is indeed unwarranted and I pray to Almighty Allah to continue to grant us peace in our land”.
The Speaker explained that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is doing everything humanly possible to beef up the security of lives and property of Kwarans, citing the recent security meeting with security agencies as a point of reference.
Engineer Salihu also used the opportunity to visit Taku Bake Compound, Late Imam House and Bio Adamu compound to offer his sympathy and support to the families of those that lost their lives during the incident.
Those that died in the January 8 clash between some soldiers and commercial drivers are Amidu Zubair, Muftau Akeem and AbdulQudus Sa’adu.
The bereaved families while reacting to the Rt. Hon. Speaker’s sympathy visit expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and prayed Allah to continue to guard and guide him.
It would be recalled that Salihu had earlier sent a delegation led by Pharmacist Umar Sadiq, Senator representing Kwara North at the red chamber to give his condolence and financial support to the victims.
The Speaker who was later joined by the APC Caretaker Chairman in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullah Samari also visited Alhaji Mora Lafia of Sinawu and Emir of Okuta, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Idris Sero Abubakar, Kperogi-Afon Serobetete to pay homage and receive royal blessings.
