The Niger state governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago has ordered security agencies to embark on stop-and-search operations to curb insecurity across the state.
He gave the order when he paid Sallah homage on the Emir of Minna, Umar Farouk Bahago in continuation of his tour of Emirates.
Bago commiserated with the Emir on the recent robbery attack on his cashier, assuring him that his administration remains committed to ensuring the security of lives and property of its citizens.
According to the governor, “We are on top of the situation and the perpetrators will be brought to book. We have also given a matching order for stop and search operations in the Minna metropolis and other parts of the state.”
While stressing that youth restiveness will not be condoned in the state, the governor warned members of the judiciary to desist from granting illegal bail and pardon to culprits.
He assured that schools that have been closed due to insecurity will be reopened and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) return safely to their ancestral homes.
Bago stressed the need for farmers to be more committed to farming, adding that fertilizers will be available for farmers at subsidized rate and the sales will be flagged off on Monday, August 10, 2023.
Earlier, the Emir of Minna, Bahago who commended the Governor for his efforts so far in ensuring the safety of the people of Niger, also called on the governor to be more deliberate in taking actions that will make the state safer for all.
He assured the governor of the Emirate’s support to the success of the present administration.
The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba; the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sen. Mohammed Sani Musa; the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman Gawu; Chief of Staff, Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi, other top government officials and APC chieftains in the state.
