The Enugu State Government has launched a digitalised system for the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ENHDC) to improve efficiency, transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
Speaking during the inauguration on Thursday in Enugu, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of transparent and technology-driven governance.
According to him, the digitalisation project aims to ensure accountability, traceability, and greater public confidence in government processes, especially in land and housing administration.
Onyia noted that the adoption of technology would enable effective monitoring of processes, proper accounting for public resources, and improved service quality for residents and investors.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment where citizens and investors can trust government systems.
The SSG added that staff had already been trained to ensure smooth implementation and sustainability of the new system. He commended the corporation’s staff for supporting the vision and urged them to maintain professionalism and excellence.
He also praised the Chairman of the ENHDC Board, Chief Mbah Nnamani, for backing the reforms.
The Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Mr Chimaobi Okorie, said the initiative fulfils Governor Peter Mbah’s promise to digitise land administration. He recalled that the governor signed the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Law shortly after assuming office to support this goal.
Okorie explained that the digital system would boost stakeholder confidence by securely storing records electronically for easy access, while eliminating missing files and manual bottlenecks, and enhancing revenue generation.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Mr Nnaemeka Ani, described the project as a major milestone in Enugu’s digital transformation agenda. He noted that the state is fast becoming a leader in e-governance in Nigeria.
In her welcome address, the corporation’s Director of Administration and Supply, Dr Precious Nnaji, called the digitalisation a landmark achievement. She said it would improve record management, data security, communication, and operational efficiency across departments.
“It will reduce delays from manual processes, promote accuracy, and strengthen institutional capacity,” she said.
Nnaji urged staff to fully embrace the system and actively participate in training for its long-term success.
