Members of the Ekiti State Executive Council on Wednesday donated N100 million to support the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebode said the donation was announced during a meeting at the State Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.
He noted that the council members described the donation as “a token” of their love, loyalty, and commitment to the governor’s second-term bid.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of the members, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, and the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe, said they were proud to serve in the administration.
They said the gesture reflected their appreciation of the governor’s leadership style and developmental strides in the state.
The council members expressed confidence in Oyebanji’s victory at the poll and pledged to ensure his re-election.
Responding, Governor Oyebanji thanked the Executive Council for the unprecedented show of solidarity and support.
He noted that no previous executive council in the state had made such a significant contribution towards a sitting governor’s re-election campaign.
Oyebanji said the gesture would motivate him to deliver more good governance and justify the confidence reposed in him.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor and Secretary to the Campaign Council, Mr Niyi Adebayo, confirmed that the donation had been received into the campaign account
