The Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Uyo Military Cantonment, Akwa Ibom State, Brigadier General Nnabueze E. Okoloagu, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for its relentless efforts in tackling economic and financial crimes across the country. He noted that the Army and the Commission shared a common goal in securing Nigeria’s economic integrity and protecting her natural resources from saboteurs.

He stressed the need for closer collaboration and intelligence sharing between both agencies, particularly in addressing the rising menace of illegal mining and unauthorized dealings in petroleum products.

In his response, Uyo Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC,  ACE1 Oshodi appreciated the Okoloagu  for the visit and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with the Nigeria Army. He emphasized that inter-agency synergy was  crucial in curbing economic sabotage and ensuring effective enforcement of the law.

According to him, “the fight against illegal mining and illegal petroleum product dealings cannot be won in isolation. We must work together, share intelligence, and support each other operationally to protect our nation’s resources”.

Both leaders vowed to strengthen operational collaboration, enhance intelligence exchange, and conduct joint enforcement activities aimed at dismantling criminal networks of illegal resource thieves in the state. They expressed optimism in the renewed partnership which they believe will yield tangible results in safeguarding Nigeria’s economic assets and promoting national development.
