Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has approved the promotion of Dr. Umma Abdullahi to the rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
The university A&PC approved the promotion of the first female professor of Mechanical Engineering in northern Nigeria on December 27th, 2024.
A post on the verified Facebook page of a senior lecturer with the Mass Communication department, Bayero University Kano, Dr. Hadiza Ibrahim, announced the promotion on Friday, noting that the promotion takes effect from 1st October 2023.
The post said that Umma Abdullahi is Nigeria’s 3rd female Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Umma Abdullahi was a lecturer with Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, from 2007 to 2017.
She later moved to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 2017-2022 and later moved to Bayero University Kano till date.
