A boat mishap on Thursday claimed 13 lives in Ginga village, Shagari local government area of Sokoto state.
ASHENEWS reports that the boat capsized when 18 Ginga villagers were sailing to Doruwa village.
The chairman of Shagari local government council, Aliyu Dantani Shagari confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with ASHENEWS.
“Eighteen people were sailing to Doruwa village from Ginga village. They had to cross over the Shagari Dam and that was when the boat capsized.
“Of the 18 people, eight women and five men died while five people survived,” the chairman said.
