The Tinubu Media Force (TMF), a group supporting President Bola Tinubu, has asked state governors to invest more in food production and human capital development. They said this would empower citizens and ensure food security in their states.

TMF’s National Coordinator, Mr Gbenga Abiola, made this appeal in a statement on Thursday after a strategic meeting held in Lagos.

Abiola said governors should align their policies with President Tinubu’s economic vision, which focuses on developing people’s skills, making food affordable, and improving transport services.

He urged state governments to act quickly and work together to tackle the country’s economic challenges at the grassroots level.

According to Abiola, to reduce the high cost of living and improve citizens’ quality of life, governors must invest in education, healthcare, and skills training.

“Governors must focus on investing in people, especially in education, health, and skill development. This is the best way to create a self-reliant population that can support long-term growth,” he said.

Abiola also expressed concern about the rising prices of food items, calling it one of the biggest problems facing Nigerians.

He urged governors to set up food hubs at the regional, state, and local levels. These hubs would help buy food in bulk, manage transportation, and regulate prices to protect vulnerable families.

“These hubs can help keep food prices stable and protect poor households from inflation,” Abiola explained.

He mentioned Lagos State’s food logistics model as a good example of how targeted efforts can reduce inflation and improve food access.

Abiola encouraged other state governments to learn from the Lagos model and adopt similar strategies to make food more affordable in their states.

He also asked governors to support the Federal Government’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) transportation plan to help reduce transport costs.

“TMF suggests that governors should quickly build CNG refueling stations and include CNG-powered buses in their local transport systems,” Abiola said.

He added that investing in CNG infrastructure could lower transport costs by up to 50% and also create environmental and job opportunities.

Abiola noted that the Federal Government has already started distributing 64 CNG buses across the country and secured \$791 million in investments to expand the CNG sector.

He called for unity among state governors, saying they must work closely with the Federal Government to support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Governors need to rise to the challenge. Now is the time to invest in people, reduce living costs, and bring new ideas for a better future,” Abiola concluded.
