NAFDAC has announced a nationwide ban on Indomie brand Noodles Vegetable Flavour, citing the discovery of undeclared allergens that could trigger severe allergic reactions in vulnerable consumers.
In a public alert released on Friday and cited by TVC News, the agency said the recall followed a notification from Rappel Conso, France’s official food safety authority, which flagged the product for containing milk and eggs not declared on its label.
“Public Alert No. 041/2025: Recall of Indomie brand noodles (Vegetable Flavour) due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs,” the statement read.
NAFDAC noted that Indomie noodles are widely consumed across many countries due to their affordability and convenience, making the discovery particularly concerning for public health authorities.
While acknowledging that Nigeria currently has a ban on imported noodles, the agency warned that the affected product could still enter the country through online purchases, international travel, or illegal distribution channels.
To prevent this, NAFDAC said it has activated nationwide surveillance and directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to monitor markets and seize the product if found.
The agency also cautioned distributors and retailers to be vigilant and avoid selling the recalled noodles.
“Consumers who come across the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles are advised not to consume them and to discard the product immediately,” NAFDAC said.
Members of the public were urged to report sightings or sales of the banned product to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free number 0800-162-3322. Reports of adverse reactions linked to the product can also be submitted via NAFDAC’s online reporting platforms.
