Dr. Abubakar Musa, former National Coordinator of the Nigeria Young Farmers Network (NYFN), has been appointed Global President of the All Africa Youth Forum (AAYF).
Musa, who also serves as President of the Coalition of Farmers Association of Nigeria (COFAN) and is a member of the World Farmers Organization, will serve a four-year term.
His appointment was announced in a statement signed by the AAYF Secretary-General, Mr. Samuel Kerkula, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja.
According to Kerkula, Musa’s appointment was confirmed during the AAYF Global Conference held in Liberia.
Kerkula quoted Musa as expressing appreciation to the AAYF leadership for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as a renewed call to youth-driven development and collective action.
He said his vision was centred on transforming Africa’s vast potential into tangible progress through innovation and youth collaboration.
Musa pledged to make meaningful contributions toward achieving the organization’s objectives, with a focus on youth empowerment, agriculture and food systems, climate action, and gender equality.
He described his appointment as “a call to action,” adding that he would ensure inclusivity in all AAYF programmes.
“Africa’s youths are not the leaders of tomorrow; we are the architects of today,” Musa said.
“Through the All Africa Youth Forum, we will empower young people to lead in agribusiness, climate innovation, and inclusive governance, ensuring no one is left behind.”
He said his leadership would prioritize building strong youth cooperatives and leadership networks across African regions, promoting youth participation in agriculture and value chain development, and advancing climate adaptation and green job initiatives.
Musa further emphasized the need to strengthen gender equality and inclusion across all AAYF programmes.
He called on African governments, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to invest in youth capacity development, support innovation, and collaborate across borders to achieve the Africa envisioned in the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
“The confidence and responsibility bestowed on me will not be taken for granted. I will work diligently, and together, we shall achieve our global objectives,” Musa stated.
The All Africa Youth Forum (AAYF) is a continental body committed to empowering the next generation of African leaders and driving progress across various sectors.
