The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office (LOO), has commenced the 2025 Operation Eagle Eye to promote road safety during the yuletide season.
The operation, which began on Wednesday, is being carried out in collaboration with the Lagos and Ogun State Sector Commands of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The exercise kicked off at OPIC Junction along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway corridor.
Head of Operations at NEMA LOO, Mr Mohammed Olatunde, said the initiative was aimed at ensuring safety and reducing road traffic crashes during the festive period.
Olatunde explained that NEMA LOO is supporting the FRSC with its Medical Intensive Care Unit as well as search-and-rescue extrication units to enable prompt response to any road traffic accidents.
He added that Operation Eagle Eye forms part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety and protect lives during the festive season.
The exercise was conducted by a joint team comprising officials of NEMA LOO, the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Mr Kehinde Hamzat, and the Ogun State Sector Commander, Mr Akinwunmi Fasakin.
The team worked to ensure the free flow of traffic along the heavily congested route, occasioned by increased movement of motorists and commuters traveling for the yuletide.
Traffic heading out of Lagos, which built up due to increased vehicular movement, was effectively controlled and monitored by officials of NEMA LOO and the FRSC.
