ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Government has approved the release of N300 million for tree planting as part of efforts to address the impact of climate change.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Musa Salihu Bawa Bosso, made this known during a Hybrid Technical Support Mission of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project in Minna.
He said the N300 million was part of the N900 million counterparts funding the state would pay for the project.
The commissioner noted that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago-led administration was making an effort to reclaim the degraded lands and improve the livelihood of the people, especially at the grassroots through improved agricultural activities in the state.
Bosso said the state government was mindful of the importance and benefits of greening the environment, saying that assorted trees and low-hanging fruit seedlings have been planted across the state.
