Mr. Babatunde Hunpe, Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Lagos State, announced on Thursday that the movement of commercial motorcyclists (Okada) is now restricted to between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. in the community.
Hunpe made the statement through Mr. Augustine Kriko, the Chief Press Secretary of the council.
The chairman explained that the restrictions are necessary to enhance security and increase vigilance amid rising security concerns nationwide.
He stated that these measures aim to strengthen security, maintain public order, and protect lives and property within the local government.
“The council recognizes the need for proactive measures to prevent security breaches and ensure residents’ safety.
“Therefore, commercial motorcycle operators are only permitted to operate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
“Additionally, all motorcyclists must wear identifiable jackets during operations within the council area,” he emphasized.
Hunpe also directed that activities of bowlers and related recreational operators be limited to between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and all social gatherings, parties, and public events should conclude by 7:00 p.m.
He noted that these measures reflect the local government’s commitment to supporting security efforts, curbing crime, and fostering peace for socio-economic development.
“Residents, community leaders, event organizers, transport unions, and business operators are urged to fully comply with these directives.
“Security agencies and enforcement teams are mandated to ensure strict adherence,” he added.
The chairman warned that violators would face sanctions in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
