The People Planet and Peace Foundation on Sunday held a rally to create public awareness of climate change in Lagos.

Mr Olatunji Francisco, Lead for the Climate Beyond Borders Caravan (CBBC) in Africa, said the rally marked the closing of Nigeria’s phase of the caravan.

He stated that the CBBC activities, which started in Abuja, had already taken place in Ibadan and Abeokuta before concluding in Lagos.

According to him, CBBC is a multi-country initiative spanning 21 African nations, aimed at fostering environmental sustainability, promoting climate awareness, and strengthening cross-border collaboration.

Mr Everest Ikechukwu, a CBBC participant, who spoke on climate change and environmental awareness, urged stakeholders to shift from non-renewable to renewable energy sources.

Also speaking, Miss Olabisi Kumuyi, Caravan Secretary for Nigeria, commended Mr Emmanuel Olaore, popularly known as Sisco Lee, for his song titled “Planting Trees Towards Climate Change Adaptation”.

She appreciated Mr Duncan Seda, a CBBC participant from Kenya, for his excellent dance performance at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, which entertained the audience.

She also thanked Mr Olumide Idowu of the International Climate Change Development Initiative, Africa, for his logistics support during the preparations.
