The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that candidates will now be required to pay a fee of N50,000 for the reprinting of their certificates. This new policy was revealed by NECO’s Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State.
Wushishi explained that the N50,000 fee is a fixed amount for now but noted that it is “subject to periodic review.” He also clarified that the reprinting request must be made within a specific timeframe. “Requests for certificate reprints will only be accepted within one year of the original certificate issuance,” he said, adding that after this period, NECO will no longer entertain such requests.
This development comes as part of NECO’s efforts to streamline its operations and prevent fraudulent activities associated with certificates. The council has emphasized the importance of candidates safeguarding their original certificates to avoid unnecessary delays and costs.
In addition to the reprinting policy, NECO has introduced a new guideline for corrections in candidates’ results. The council has set a one-month deadline for candidates to submit any requests for the correction of results. After this period, such requests will no longer be entertained, as NECO aims to enhance the integrity and timeliness of its services.
This new policy has raised concerns among candidates, especially those who may misplace their certificates or require corrections after the stipulated timeframes. However, NECO maintains that these measures are necessary to improve the efficiency of its services and to reduce the possibility of certificate fraud.
