PDP’s remark on Buhari’s aborted Zamfara flight insensitive, callous – Group

The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) has tackled the Peoples Democratic Party PDP over its remarks on the cancellation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s flight to Zamfara due to poor weather condition.

In a sharp reaction, NEN National Secretary Suleiman Abbah said the remark by the PDP amounts to a careless attempt to make political capital at the expense of the suffering people of Zamfara state.

“It is callous for a major political party after failing to adequately play the role of constructive opposition expected of it since its defeat seven years ago to resort to such desperate measures as trivializing matters of security in total desregard for the sensibilities of the affected communities.

“That level of insensitivity displayed by the PDP only heightens the concerns that the current disturbances that have been ongoing ceaselessly since the coming to power of the Mumammadu Buhari administration in 2015, are politically motivated to usher in anarchy and instability thereby occasioning a change of government by whatever means and tactics.

“It also confirms fears that the general and pervasive insecurity that is being experienced across the country that have left untold numbers of dead and displaced persons are symptoms of the disquiet in the country that has been exacerbated by PDP’s political opportunism and corruption that are now fighting back the system.

“The aims of this and other reactionary tactics adopted by the PDP are reaction are to halt the war against corruption and Buhari’s efforts to lessen the hardships that have been building up since the early part of the Jonathan administration resulting from the massive looting of the treasury and downright theft of the national resources,” Abbah said.

The Group warned that desperate politicians should desist from further attempts to dance on the graves of the people in to push their dubious political aims.
