Sokoto police command have confirmed the arrest of suspects in possession of illegal firearms at Kwanawa in Dange/Shuni local government area of the state.
Earlier, sources in the community confirmed the arrest of the suspects who were found with five AK47 riffles during a police special operation patrol.
According to the the sources, the weapons were discovered in the residents of some of the suspects while others were also discovered in a nearby cemetery where the suspects buried the AK47 riffles.
The spokesperson of the command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar confirmed that the police arrested the suspects in raid led by the Dange/Shuni Divisional Police Officer.
He also disclosed that another suspect with AK49 riffle was arrested in another community in the same local government area.
According to him, investigation that may lead to arrest of more criminal syndicates operating within the area, is still on.
