A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, fixed February 28 for hearing a bail application filed by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari. Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the matter after counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joseph Sunday, Director of Legal Services in the agency, prayed the court for more time to respond to Kyari’s bail application. Nigeria’s Senate on Wednesday called on the federal government to declare known leaders of terrorists wanted. The Upper Chamber made this call through a motion presented by Senator Bala Nallah, who raised an alarm over the kidnappings, banditry and related security challenges in Kebbi state. The Zamfara State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor of the state, Mahdi Gusau. Mr Gusau was impeached during plenary on Wednesday shortly after the House received the report of the committee set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to investigate the allegations against him. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, gave an interim order forfeiting 10 property of former Governor of Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari to the federal government. Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order following an ex-parte motion moved by counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osuobeni Akponimisingha. The Tanzanian Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe has called on the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to support the East African region towards cassava, soybean and banana transformation for economic prosperity. Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the 15 million out-of-school children are a threat to national security.
