The National Examinations Council (NECO) has extended the registration period for the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school-based candidates. NECO’s Head of Information and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani, announced this in a statement on Monday. According to him, the council has decided to extend the registration deadline for the examination for this year by three weeks. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted that there would be extreme heat for three days in some parts of the country. The agency in its high-temperature outlook signed by the Director-General, Prof. Mansur Matazu on Sunday, said most parts of the Northern cities are expected to record temperatures between 35°C to 40°C. Although, it said parts of Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina and Borno are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C, it stated that parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Dutse, Nguru and Maiduguri indicate chances of experiencing high thermal discomfort starting from Sunday.…

Armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have arrested a former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, DAILY NIGERIAN has reported. The operatives were said to have surrounded Mr Yari’s Abuja residence before gaining entry to arrest him. Although the spokesperson for the commission, Wilson Uwujaren could not confirm the development, sources confirmed the arrest. The Nigerian troops have eliminated over 35 armed bandits in Dutsen Argida and Magaman Daji communities in Niger state, PRNigeria has reported. The terrorists were reported to have come from Birnin Gwari forest in Kaduna state and invaded the two communities located in Rijau local government area, via Kontagora town and Kwimo village. Operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested an Italy-based 36-year-old Nigerian, Nwakanma Uche who excreted 95 pellets of heroin. Uche was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, after it was discovered that he had ingested the pellets.
