The Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (PTAN) has dissociated itself from a proposal that the country’s parents of students would contribute N10,000 each for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end its ongoing strike that has so far lasted six months. The governing council of Sokoto State University (SSU) has approved the appointment of deputy vice-chancellors, academic and administration. A statement by the information officer of the university, Zayyanu Shehu on Thursday, said that the council, at its 25th meeting held on August 25 2022, also promoted four staff to professorial positions. The National Senior Citizens Centre has commended Kebbi state government for being a trail blazer in the payment of gratuity to all categories of retired from civil servants. A 40-year-old man lost his life in an inferno at a general hospital at Badawa Layout in Nassarawa local government area of Kano state on Wednesday. The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared N954.085 billion to the three tiers of government, as federation allocation for July. This is according to a statement signed by Mr Phil Abiamuwe-Mowete, the Director (Information) on Wednesday in Abuja.
