The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva says she hoped debt restructuring efforts for Zambia and Chad could be completed by the end of this year. Georgieva, speaking with civil society groups at the start of the annual IMF and World Bank meetings, said a Group of 20 initiative launched in late 2020 had been slow to become operational. The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed the attack on a section of Ezza North local government headquarters by unidentified gunmen. The gunmen set the property on fire on Monday morning and left valuables worth millions of naira destroyed. Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has released a severe weather long-range forecast, warning of flooding, heatwaves, thunderstorms and tropical cyclones to come from October to April. A Kafanchan Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna State on Tuesday ordered that a 37-year-old man, Ziyanu Abdulrazak, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly sodomising a seven-year-old boy. Abdulrazak is charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with unnatural offence, contrary to the provisions of Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
