The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday said the Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) for persons captured in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) would be ready in October and November. The Lassa fever cases in Nigeria have jumped to 857 and 164 people dead so far from the disease in the first seven months of 2022. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said this in its latest Lassa fever situation report for week 29, which showed that there were 857 confirmed cases of the disease in the country. Lassa fever is a viral haemorrhagic fever transmitted by rats. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) has rescued no fewer than 615 victims of human trafficking in Katsina State from January 2022 to date. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Saturday received another batch of 140 Nigerians stranded from Agadaz, Niger Republic. The NEMA Coordinator, Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi, confirmed this while receiving the returnees in Kano. The Kwara state government has received an interim report on the verification of pensioners in the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Head of Service (HoS), Mr Murtala Atoyebi, in Ilorin on Saturday.
