The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, has called for the exclusion of individuals convicted of corruption from benefiting from state pardons. Speaking at a roundtable organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja on Monday, Fagbemi emphasized that such pardons undermine the fight against corruption. The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Nigerian labour leader, Joe Ajaero, after detaining him for nearly 15 hours. Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), was taken into custody on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, while en route to the United Kingdom for a Trade Union Congress (TUC) event.
