President Muhammad Buhari has approved the removal of the Board Chairman of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Mr Tonye Jaja. The board was inaugurated on July 12, 2019 by the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN. A letter to by the Solicitor-General, Dr Dayo Akpata, SAN dated October 15, said Jaja’s removal is with immediate effect. The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, dismisses a suit seeking the sack of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) appointed for the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Justice Inyang Ekwo, while delivering a judgment, held that the plaintiffs did not have the requisite locus standi to file the suit. The judge, who said that the development robbed his court of the jurisdiction to look into their prayers, thereafter struck out the suit. Thousands of people were, on Monday morning, stranded in different parts of Ogun, as EndSARS protesters resumed their protests. The protesters blocked the NNPC axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu road, thus making it difficult for civil servants to resume for work at the Oke Mosan state secretariat. As #EndSARS protests continues, suspected hoodlums stormed Benin maximum security prison in Edo. ChannelsTV reports the Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media, Crusoe Osagie, as saying that the hoodlums exchanged fire with security operatives at the Maximum prison in Benin City. “The hoodlums are currently exchanging fire with the security personnel at the Maximum security prison in Oko, Benin City,” Osagie said. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced 133 new cases of Coronavirus in the country. The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Sunday The country recorded two new casualties bringing the total death toll to 1,125. The agency said that 54 patients were discharged from isolation centres across the country. It stated that the new 133 cases were detected in nine states including the Federal Capital Territory.
