The police command in Ekiti on Friday confirmed the killing of a police officer as gunmen allegedly abducted a Chinese expatriate in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital. The abductee was one of the engineers working with the Chinese company handling the new Ado-Iyin road. Six people have been confirmed dead in an accident which involved a truck and a Honda Pilot Jeep in the Ogere area on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. One other person was badly injured in the accident. Mr Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed on Saturday in Abeokuta. According to Umar, the incident happened around 7 a.m. and was caused by excessive speeding on the part of the jeep driver.
