Nigeria’s daily gas production has risen to 7.59 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) in July 2025, while gas flaring dropped to 7.16 per cent, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The Commission, in its latest Gas Production Status Report, said the July figure represents an 8.58 per cent increase from the 6.99 BSCFD recorded in 2024, and a 9.84 per cent rise from 6.91 BSCFD in 2023. Yobe State University’s Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC) has collected 1,100 blood and biopsy samples for its ongoing Dementia Research Project. University spokesperson Abdulmunini Gulani said on Sunday that the study is the first large-scale dementia cohort in Northern Nigeria and will support Africa’s first open-access Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) biobank.
