The Katsina Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly drugging and abducting a married woman for a period of 5 months. The spokesperson of the command, Isah Gambo disclosed to newsmen at a briefing that the suspect identified as Surajo Dauda and a resident of Danja local government area of the state, confessed to the crime, adding that the woman was his girlfriend who had turned down his marriage proposal. An attack by gunmen on Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa in Ondo state and rape of four female students, has stalled academic activities of the university. The activities were shut down as a result of peaceful protest by students against the rape of their mates. The students also blocked the Okitipupa-Igbokoda highway, disrupting free-flow of traffic. The federal government says it will continue to engage in fisheries subsidies negotiations, in order to achieve balanced and equitable outcomes from the forthcoming WTO’s 12th Ministerial Conference (MC-12) on fisheries subsidies. The federal government says it had no immediate plan to ban the importation of gas cylinders as part of its LPG expansion and implementation plan. Mr Dayo Adesina, Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Gas in the office of the Vice-President, made the disclosure in an interview in Abuja on Sunday. Two global foundations, the IKEA and the Rockefeller Foundations, have announced plans to launch a one billion dollar fund, to boost access to renewable energy in developing countries.
