Mother of a 15-year old housewife, who is married to a 25-year-old man in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state, has alleged that her in-law forcefully had annal sex with her daughter and broke her spinal cord in the process.
Speaking with journalists, the mother also said that her daughter, who is critically in pains at the Sokoto Specialist Hospital, could not still move for the past 10 days when the incident happened.
“My daughter told me that the husband wanted to have sex with her through the anus but she refused. He folded her arms and legs and chocked her into silence and then had anal sex with her to a point of unconsciousness.
“When we knew about it, we took her to the nearest primary healthcare center. She couldn’t stand, seat or walk and therefore was assisted into a motorcycle.
“The health personnel at the centre in Goronyo said they could not handle the case and we proceed to Specialist Hospital here in Sokoto metropolis for medical attention.
“For the past 10 days ago when the incident happened, she has not been able to go to toilet. She doesn’t feel pain at her back to the waist downwards. It looks as if she is paralyzed,” the mother narrated.
When newsmen visited the hospital, the 15-year old was on hospital bed, motionless.
A medical personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorized to speak to the press, said they had carried out several tests on her and were still running other tests.
According to him, health officials observed that the victim’s anus was reddish, adding that they “suspect spinal cord injuries, which is why she cannot move any part of her body. But we will not conclude now since some results of her examination were still being expected.”
Meanwhile, when the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Kulu Sifawa visited the sodomised wife at the hospital, she looked visibly astonished at the situation of the girl.
She however assured that the husband would face the full wrath of the law.
