This information was made available on NERC website titled “Consultation Paper on Review of Customer Protection Regulations in The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI)” signed by its Chairman, Mr Sanusi Garba. The paper proposed that any DisCo which disconnects a customer’s supply in violation of this regulation, commits an offence and is liable upon conviction to pay the customer a penalty. Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, has inducted 1,000 hunters recently engaged to join existing ones in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram. Inducted at Gongulong ward on Thursday, the hunters are to provide dedicated protection to farmers who cultivate crops in outskirts of Jere, where over 70 farmers were killed in November 2020 as well as farms in parts of Maiduguri metropolis, Konduga and Mafa local government areas. A deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari says he never received money from Ramon Abbas, who’s popularly known as Hushpuppi. The police officer was mentioned in a US court document where Hushpuppi told US prosecutors that he gave Kyari $1.1million of the proceeds of the crime. A US court document has accused popular Nigerian Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari of benefitting from an international fraud case involving Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi. The document alleged that Hushpuppi bribed Kyari in order to arrest and jail Chibuzo Vincent, an estranged ‘co-conspirator,’ in a $1.1million fraud case. The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, has demanded the federal government, to proscribe Afenifere and all other religious, ethnic, cultural and tribal groups that were acting to undermine Nigeria’s peace, security, and peaceful coexistence through unguarded utterances and deliberate actions aimed at fomenting unrest and engendering inter-religious and inter-communal conflicts. The Department of State Services (DSS) again on Thursday, defied a court order to produce the 12 detained aides of Yoruba-nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo,  popularly known as Sunday Igboho. Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the DSS to produce in court on July 29, the 12 aides who have been in their custody since July 2, 2021. By Abujah Racheal Nigeria’s COVID-19 spike has continued with the country recording 535 new cases across some states. The new cases recorded on Wednesday were announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its recent update on the outbreak. Five deaths were recorded while 49 patients have been discharged. Of the cases, Lagos recorded an alarming number of 219 infections, Akwa Ibom 142 and Oyo 47.
