Doctors have urged hospitals around the world to reconsider the type of fluids used to treat children gravely ill with sepsis. In a new study, researchers from Imperial College London found saline fluids commonly used to help stabilise critically ill children may trigger the blood to become more acidic, and lead to organ failure. The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), at the weekend undertook its first surgery to remove brain tumor using a machine that drills the skull bone to gain access to the tumor. “It is the first Trans-labyrinthine approach to a posterior fossa tumor. An 82-year-old woman was among 43 victims of Vesico Vagina Fistula (VVF), operated upon by medics of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), during a 2-weeks medical outreach in Mangu, Plateau State. VVF is an abnormal fistulous tract extending between the bladder (vesica) and the vagina which allows the continuous involuntary discharge of urine into the vaginal vault.
