No fewer than 50 houses and properties worth millions of Naira have been submerged and destroyed by flood in Gallah ward of Agwara Local Government Area of Niger. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 197 new cases of COVID-19, with five deaths recorded in the country. The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Thursday. The agency said that the total confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country had reached 55,829. It noted that the 197 infections were reported from 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).  The NCDC said that the number of deaths rose from 1,070 to 1,075, while the number of discharged cases also increased by 200. An English High Court court ordered P&ID to pay the sum of 1.5 million pounds to the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN), during its scheduled hearing on Thursday. The hearing followed Nigeria’s major victory, granted by the court last week Friday, to bring a fraud challenge against a $10 billion arbitration award obtained by vulture-fund-backed P&ID, well outside the normal time limits. The court’s grant means Nigeria will now proceed to a full fraud trial.
