The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Thursday said that no fewer than 21 persons lost their lives in an auto crash on the old Enugu – Okigwe road. The accident involved a low-bed articulated vehicle and a fully-loaded 608 Mercedes Benz bus conveying school children and their teachers. It happened precisely at the Nkwo Junction of the road at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when the school children were returning home. Adamawa Police Command, say on Thursday that they have recovered additional 30 tractors, 107 bags of fertilisers, 28 hand tractors and 29 cartons of agro chemicals looted by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest. The police had on Wednesday, announced that they arrested 238 suspects from whom 35 tractors, nine vehicles, more than 600 bags of fertiliser, 50 hand tractors and hoes, and 18 bags of maize were recovered. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released guidelines for implementation of the proposed N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF). CBN, in a statement by its Development Finance Department, stated that the fund was a built-in strategy to effectively respond to the challenge of youth employment in Nigeria. The Fund, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, is to be managed by NISRAL Microfinance Bank. The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that 18 rooms and eight toilets razed in Wednesday night fire at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kano. Alhaji Saidu Muhammed, Public Relations Officer of the Service, confirmed the incident on Thursday. Muhammed said that the Service received a distressed call from one Ibrahim Bashir of fire outbreak at a students’ hostel in the school. The Republics of Niger, Benin and Togo have remitted a total of N2.04 billion in the first quarter of 2020, as their outstanding electricity bills to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, the Commission’s quarterly report has disclosed. According to the report however, Ajaokuta Steel Co. Ltd and its environs failed to make any payment in respect of invoices issued by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc to the tune of N0.27 billion and N0.05 billion during the quarter.
