The Lagos State Government on Tuesday announced the setting up of a N200 million fund to compensate families of victims of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) killings. Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this while addressing the #EndSARS protesters at the Lagos House of Assembly gate, Alausa, Ikeja. The compensation fund will be completely supervised by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) appointed by members of the public. Sanwo-Olu called on the protesters to send the list of everyone that had fatal encounters with SARS in Lagos. The Senate has received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of four nominees as Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). A 33-year-old trader, Onome Godfrey, on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates‘ Court for allegedly biting off tip of a woman ’s ear . The police charged Godfrey, who lives at No. 2, Ifedore St., Yamco Ayobo, Lagos, with two counts of breach of peace and assault. She pleaded not guilty. Four persons were crushed to death on Monday in an accident involving an Iveco truck, Bajaj motorcycle and a commercial bus around Phonex bus stop on the Sagamu-Ogijo road. Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
