Nigeria has reaffirmed its medium-term target of single-digit inflation as the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) seek to strengthen investor confidence and attract long-term capital into key sectors of the economy.

The commitment was reiterated by CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso at the Nigeria Investor Presentation during the 2026 IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand, where he and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, outlined the next phase of the country’s economic agenda.

The presentation highlighted reforms in monetary policy, foreign exchange and market infrastructure, alongside the banking sector recapitalisation programme, which raised approximately ₦4.65 trillion.

Cardoso said price stability and clearer policy guidance remained central to sustaining investor confidence and supporting long-term investment. He reaffirmed single-digit inflation as the medium-term objective, underscoring the importance of a predictable economic environment for businesses and investors.

The banking recapitalisation programme featured prominently in discussions on strengthening the financial system and its capacity to finance businesses and productive activities.

A dedicated deal room also showcased 65 transactions across power, transport, agriculture, manufacturing and technology, presenting investment opportunities in sectors critical to Nigeria’s infrastructure development, economic diversification and productivity.

The initiative sought to connect investors with projects across the economy while complementing ongoing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate.

The engagement underscored Nigeria’s efforts to combine macroeconomic stability with concrete investment opportunities. The key test will be translating the reforms and proposed transactions into sustained investment, stronger productive capacity and broad-based economic growth.
