The Federal government, on Friday, said it had signed a 25 megawatt Independent Power Project (IPP) agreement, to enhance electricity supply to industries in the Kano Free Trade Zone (KFTZ). Gombe state ogvernment has imposed a 24-hour curfew with immediate effect on Billiri local government area of the state, following the eruption of violence in the area. The number of COVID-19-inflicted deaths in Africa has reached 100,294 on Friday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent also stood at 3,796,354, according to the continental disease control and prevention agency’s Africa COVID-19 dashboard. South Africa has reported the highest number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Africa, at 48,708, followed by Egypt, at 10,201, and Morocco, at 8,524. Poland on Friday confirmed that the South African variant of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been reported in the country. Poland’s Health Minister Adam Niedzielski disclosed this at a news conference. The first case of the South African variant was reported outside the Polish city of Suwalki, near the border with Lithuania. Some wildlife experts on Friday expressed concern over the illegal poaching of Pangolins and called for enforcement of laws and stringent measures against those found guilty of trading them.
