The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has restated its commitment to promoting transparency, fairness, and justice in governance in line with the principles of the Ombudsman institution.
Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Saidu Yahaya, made this known on Thursday during the 2025 Ombudsman Day celebration held in Kano.
He described the occasion as a moment for reflection and renewal of the collective resolve to uphold fairness and accountability in public administration.
Yahaya said this year’s theme, “Empowering Voices and Resolving Challenges,” underscored the importance of listening to citizens, valuing their feedback, and addressing their concerns without fear or favour.
“The Ombudsman is the conscience of governance — a bridge between authority and the governed, a defender of fairness, and a protector of citizens’ rights,” he stated.
According to him, the PCACC’s work goes beyond investigating complaints or exposing corruption, as it aims to restore dignity to citizens and promote ethical governance.
He commended Governor Abba Yusuf for his steadfast commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that the commission remains a proud partner in advancing a just and corruption-free state.
“Democracy without accountability is incomplete, and authority without fairness is unsustainable,” Yahaya added.
Representing the governor at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to the principles of inclusion, dialogue, and responsiveness, stressing that the Ombudsman plays a vital role in deepening democracy and ensuring justice in governance.
