ASHENEWS reports that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says its operatives in Port Harcourt have uncovered a counterfeit bottled water firm targeting the popular brand Eva water.
Eva Water is designed to provide you with the highest quality drinking water. Our water is sourced from natural springs and undergoes a rigorous purification process that ensures it’s free from impurities and contaminants.
NAFDAC, in a post made via its official X handle, said that some suspects were arrested during the raid.
NAFDAC’s post reads “Acting on a tipoff, officials raided a dilapidated shop on Pipe Line Road, Eneka, disguised as a pool house, where suspects were found producing the fake water.
“The operation revealed a disturbing process – used Eva plastic bottles were refilled with contaminated water drawn from a paint bucket, filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Counterfeit Eva labels were then applied to the bottles, corked with fake Eva corks.
“One suspect, Chibunna James, was apprehended while loading the adulterated water for distribution, while the mastermind remains at large.
“The seized products were confiscated and evacuated to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.”
