The Defence Chiefs and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) has donated food items to support the pet-project of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The first lady, who was represented by the National Chairman, RHI, Prof. Hafsatu Ganduje, received the items in Abuja on Thursday.
The items, consisting of 300 bags of rice, 250 assorted wax-wrappers, 250 bags of Semovita and 250 gallons of vegetable oil, were donated to RHI by DEPOWA.
Mrs Oghogho Musa, the wife of Chief of Defence Staff and the National President of DEPOWA, said the gesture was in line with the association’s objective to support the nation.
She said it was also to yield to the clarion call by the first lady for well meaning Nigerians to support the initiative in assisting the vulnerable Nigerians.
Musa pledged commitment of DEPOWA and other associations of the Wives of Service Chiefs to the initiative in all its intervention areas on agriculture, health, economic empowerment, social investment and education.
Ganduje, while appreciating DEPOWA for the gesture, said their gesture was in alignment with the main mission of RHI to make better life for all families.
“Indeed we are happy to see this particular organisation being the first to reach out and keying into the Renewed Hope Initiative.
“The initiative has some cardinal point areas that we are considering, and by the grace of God, we are going to cover within the tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The items are going to be used judiciously, especially to cushion the effect of what our people are experiencing presently because it is coming into good hands.
“I assure you that we are going to distribute it accordingly and it is going to be part and parcel of what our people are going to enjoy,’’ she said.
