ASHENEWS reports that the First Lady of Kebbi State, Zainab Nasare Idris says she will focus on promoting girl-child education in the state.
The first lady stated this when she paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwandu in his palace in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, a statement signed by her Press Secretary, Khadijat Saidu said.
The first lady said she will use her position as the wife of the Governor and her experiences to advocate for policies and also launch initiatives that will foster the empowerment of girls in the state.
She stated that her office would engage communities to ensure every girl in Kebbi State has access to quality education in a bid to foster social progress and gender equality.
She, therefore, solicited support from traditional rulers in the state.
According to her, the role of traditional rulers who are fathers to all is critical in governance.
On his part, the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Dr Iliyasu Bashir appreciated the wife of the governor and her entourage for the visit.
The Monarch equally backed the first lady on her mission, assuring that the emirate would give the needed support in the interest of women and girls in the state.
