Former lawmaker in the National Assembly (NASS), Sen. Shehu Sani has observed that it is time for Nigeria to decide what it wants to do with the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, or stop budgetary allocation to it.
Sani, in a tweet on his Twitter handle @ShehuSani on Sunday further observed that the company, for the past 40 years, had remained both a dream that had consumed more but remained non performing.
“Ajaokuta Steel Company doesn’t produce Steel but consumes N3billion annually from the Federal Government budget.
“In September last year, the Buhari regime agreed to pay $496 million to some Indian firms over a botched Concession deal.
“For over forty years, Ajaokuta has remained both a dream and a nightmare.
“It’s time to decide what we want to do with it,” Sani tweeted.
