Protest by women, youth and notable government officials on streets of Jimeta, Adamawa state, over the declaration of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisha Dahiru Binani as winner of the election in the state.

The protesters in their thousands also stormed the office of the Independent electoral commission (INEC) chanting “Give us our mandate”, “Fintiri won” and were asking INEC to do the needful.

On Sunday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Yunusa Hudu Ari declared Binani as winner midway into the collation of results, a situation that has thrown not only Adamawa state in a state of confusion but the entire federation.

The debate in public forum is that Hudu does not have the constitutional mandate to declare Binani the winner of the inconclusive election while results are being collated.
