ASHENEWS reports that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa, Aisha Binani, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to review the results of the guber election in some local government areas, before it organises a rerun poll.
ASHENEWS recalls that the electoral umpire had declared the governorship election as inconclusive citing irregularities as reasons.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had won 13 LGAs while Binani secured seven, before the declaration.
But speaking during a programme on ChannelsTV on Friday, Binani asked INEC to review the results of the governorship election in some LGAs in Adamawa.
Binani accused the governor and the PDP of using violence to manipulate the election, alleging that INEC ad-hoc staff were not present in some polling centres.
According to her, she is not afraid of running against the incumbent governor in a supplementary election.
“I am never afraid but all I am asking is that the INEC should conduct a review of the said LGAs so that it will bring out the real figures for all the candidates,” she added.
“That is just all I am asking and as soon as that is done, we would be home and dry and then we will be confident to go back to the field. That is just all I am asking.”
Commenting on the possibility of becoming the first elected female governor, she said: “I am not doing this for myself, I am doing this for every girl child in this country. It is for all the women in Nigeria.”
The electoral body is yet to fix a date for the rerun election in the state.
