To aid the adoption and implementation of new reforms in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Federal Government has inaugurated Sub-Committees of the Federal Civil Service Strategic Implementation (FCSSIP’25).

According to a statement issued by Mrs. Anthonia Eremah, the Chief Information Officer of the ministry, on Saturday in Abuja, the implementation of the reforms was approved by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

Speaking while inaugurating the committees, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, said the event was a ministerial call to action geared towards achieving the ministry’s mandate.

The permanent secretary said it was also to ensure that the Civil Service maintains a progressive standard.

Umakhihe recalled that the ministry had already on the ground, the Project Management Team (PMT), the Steering Committee, and the oncoming sub-committees.

He said these comprised Capacity Building and Talent Management, Performance Management Systems, IPPIS Human Resources, Innovation, Digital Content Services, and Improved value proposition for Civil Servants.

Umakhihe said it was the expectation of the management that the sub-committees pursue the mandate as spelled out in the Terms of Reference of each of the committees with full dedication and commitment.

He, therefore, urged the committees to come up with ideas, methodology, and requirements that would form a blueprint for implementation.

Umakhihe said that the meeting should start in earnest and each committee was expected to submit the progress report for consideration fortnightly.

Earlier, the Director, of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Alade, said the implementation of the FCSSIP’25 was a milestone.

“it is a milestone in the implementation and actual domestication of the FCSSIP’25 in the Ministry, and by so doing, we are sending clear signals that we are setting the ball rolling in all the six pillars of the FCSSIP,” she said.

She said that it was a clarion call to service, adding that history would not forget all efforts in ensuring that a new pace was set for the purpose of achieving the ministry’s mandate.

Responding on behalf of the committee members, the Director, of Animal Husbandry Services, Mrs. Winnie Lai-Solarin, thanked the ministry for giving them the opportunity to serve in various capacities.

She pledged to do their utmost best not to let the management down as well as to set good examples for others to emulate.

Lai-Solarin however requested adequate funding to enable their ideas, innovations, and interventions to be implemented without hitches.
